Dressage, the equestrian practice in which a horse makes highly precise movements in response to barely perceptible signals from the rider, has taken hold of America’s equestrians. Participation rates have risen by 200 percent over the past twenty years, as baby-boomer riders have discovered dressage to be less strenuous and dangerous than jumping, yet offering the satisfaction of mastering techniques and the opportunity to compete and advance to higher levels of achievement.

101 Dressage Exercises for Horse & Rider, presented in Storey’s highly visual “Read & Ride” format, features a full arena diagram and stepby- step instructions for each exercise. The exercises address all levels of riders, starting with the basics and moving up to maneuvers developed by members of the U.S. Olympic team. Training tips and masterly guidance make this an indispensable reference for all dressage riders. Even Western riders interested in enhancing their performance will find these foundational exercises useful.

Dressage riders are information-hungry readers, often referred to as “the thinking horsemen.” This book’s sturdy format, combbound and drilled so it can be hung on a ringside post, will appeal to these reading riders, whether in or out of the saddle.

5VALUABLE  Nov 09, 2009
I really enjoy reading and studying this book. It is extremely valuable for helping me have a much more interesting and productive ride. I do have several years of riding under my belt but who doesn't need help. If I didn't have a family to consider, I would be taking lessons but, my family is first. This is a great tool for someone who always wants to improve their riding. This is a MUST HAVE for my equine library.

5Dressage exercises for your horse  Oct 13, 2009
what a great book! the exercises are really good, nice drawings, good explanation on how to do it and why to do it. this is definetly a must have!

5Extremely helpful book!  Sep 29, 2009
I've been riding various disciplines for years, but have never gotten into dressage. For someone that knows next to nothing about the sport, this book is fantastic. I got it to give me some focus when working with my 4yo. Each exercise takes up two pages. The top page has the exercise mapped out and the bottom page has two columns. On the left is how to ride the exercise step by step and on the right is a bit of troubleshooting and the goal of the exercise.

I'd recommend it to anyone!

5Wow!  Sep 29, 2009
Wonderful condition when i bought it, arrived on time, and extremely easy to follow. 101 Dressage Exercises will keep you and your horse on top of your game, and keep you from falling into a rut and getting bored. Keep it interesting and test yourself with these easy-to-follow instructions, descriptions, and illustrations. This is a book that comes in great hand when you're unable to attend lessons and/or clinics. It'll even improve and add a little something to your routine if you do receive instruction regularly. This book is even great for instructors looking for something new to have their students try. It won't let you down, that's for sure!!

5Great book for "Things to Do"!!  May 21, 2009
I teach riding and sometimes things can just get old. This great book can lead you to some new and inventive ways to "get er' done". I also like the way it is laid out as well.
