Participation rates have risen by 200 percent over the past twenty years, as baby-boomer riders have discovered dressage to be less strenuous and dangerous than jumping, yet offering the satisfaction of mastering techniques and the opportunity to compete and advance to higher levels of achievement.
101 Dressage Exercises for Horse & Rider, presented in Storey’s highly visual “Read & Ride” format, features a full arena diagram and stepby- step instructions for each exercise. The exercises address all levels of riders, starting with the basics and moving up to maneuvers developed by members of the U.S. Olympic team. Training tips and masterly guidance make this an indispensable reference for all dressage riders. Even Western riders interested in enhancing their performance will find these foundational exercises useful. Dressage riders are information-hungry readers, often referred to as “the thinking horsemen.” This book’s sturdy format, combbound and drilled so it can be hung on a ringside post, will appeal to these reading riders, whether in or out of the saddle. | | | |

Great way to make hacking fun Aug 20, 2010 I love this book and I even gave one to my trainer. Groundwork before jumping gets boring. This book not only makes it more entertaining, it helps you connect with your horse!
A great reference! Jul 23, 2010 I love this book! It is full of of useful exercises, and they are arranged in a logical progression/by topic. Sadly, I don't get to use it as often as I would like, because I lend it out so often!
EXCELLENT!! Jun 25, 2010 I cannot describe how much I love this book! The way it is put together, the thorough explanations of the exercises and the shear number of them. This is a great way to keep your horse working, limber, conditioned and NOT BORED! The night I received it, I stayed up LATE looking through it because I just couldn't put it down. It is such a great resource to help keep you focused and working with your horse in an organized manner rather than just running around willy-nilly. I ride western and will use this resource over and over and over! THANK YOU!!
My Horse Quite Likes This Book! Mar 19, 2010 I think that this book is brilliant. My horse really enjoyed and learnt heaps from the exercises, and so did I. This book is good for people of almost all riding abilities, and for equines that get bored easily! This book, I believe, will be read over and over by just about everyone who reads it. I look forward to doing more of the exercises in the book as I advance in my horsepersonship skills.
VALUABLE Nov 09, 2009 I really enjoy reading and studying this book. It is extremely valuable for helping me have a much more interesting and productive ride. I do have several years of riding under my belt but who doesn't need help. If I didn't have a family to consider, I would be taking lessons but, my family is first. This is a great tool for someone who always wants to improve their riding. This is a MUST HAVE for my equine library.
